The Audubon Society has reported a variety of recent bird sightings in western Massachusetts.
Two Swainson’s thrushes, two mourning warblers and two blackpoll warblers were found on Mount Greylock.
Another mourning warbler was seen in the Pittsfield State Forest.
A sandhill crane continues to be reported in Worthington, and another was seen in North Adams.
A northern harrier was found in Amherst.
Three Acadian Flycatchers are still being reported in Granville and one was seen on the Mount Holyoke Range.
Other uncommon species reported included: hooded merganser, common merganser, common loon, double-crested cormorant, osprey, Cooper’s hawk, broad-winged hawk, American kestrel, American bittern, upland sandpiper, eastern screech owl, yellow-billed cuckoo and whip-poor-will.
Also, horned lark, yellow-throated vireo, red-breasted nuthatch, winter wren, marsh wren, golden-crowned kinglet, brown thrasher, Louisiana waterthrush, northern waterthrush, worm-eating warbler, cerulean warbler, Canada warbler, grasshopper sparrow, junco and orchard oriole.
