Faarooq Sahabdeen, a rising senior at Emmanuel College in Lexington, Kentucky, has been selected for The Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship National Student Congress.
Steven C. Tracy was awarded a Love of Learning Award worth $500 from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Tracy, a professor at University of Massachusetts Amherst, will use funds from the award to travel to China to deliver a paper at the Chinese American Association for Poetry and Poetics in October.
Ryan J. Olmstead, son of Heidi Olmstead of South Deerfield and Jeff Olmstead of Conway, graduated with high honors from Frontier Regional High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in varsity basketball, football, and track. Olmstead will attend Nichols College.
Angelena Delaney, daughter of George and Jennifer Delaney, was named to the president’s list at the University of Hartford School of Art for the second semester.
Katherine Gardner received a bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences from Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vermont.
Amelia Mead graduated cum laude from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She is a graduate of Amherst Regional High School.
Joel Fisher-Katz graduated cum laude from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He is a graduate of Pioneer Valley Performing Arts High School.
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Glenn C. Bovino II graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Bovino is the son of Cindy K. Saporito of South Hadley and Glenn C. Bovino of Westfield. He is a 2009 graduate of Chicopee High School, Chicopee.
