Constance Janik shot this photo in early June in her backyard in Florence. She says this female bluebird was poking her head out of one of the five bird houses she and her husband, Michael Janik, have in their yard. The bird started to fly away as soon as Janik raised her camera. โ€œThey are smart like that!โ€ she says. The bird houses, made by Michael, all have Massachusetts licenses plates on them, as this one does on its roof.
