HADLEY — Two people were taken to the hospital after a head-on collision on Route 9 Monday morning.
Detective Jesse Green said a 36-year-old male driving a Buick sedan was traveling westbound at around 8 a.m. when a witness reported seeing the sedan cross the center line and strike a Honda Odyssey traveling eastbound.
The driver of the Honda Odyssey, an 82-year-old woman, was taken to Baystate Medical Center. The male driving the Buick was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Green said the injuries were not serious and there were no passengers in either of the vehicles.
Hadley and Amherst firefighters extricated both operators from their vehicles. Route 9 between Mill Valley Road and South Maple Street were shut down for about 45 minutes, causing traffic delays.
The collision is still under investigation, but Green said it does not appear speed was a factor and police determined that no alcohol was involved.
