AMHERST — Six individuals with experience and expertise in gardening, landscaping and garden design are being sought for the Jones Library Gardens Advisory Committee.

Under the direction of George Hicks, the facilities supervisor for the Jones, and Library Director Sharon Sharry, the volunteers appointed to the committee will assist the elected library trustees in the planning, development and maintenance of all green space owned by the library.

More work will be done by the committee, formed by trustees in April, depending on if and when the project to expand and renovate the library begins. The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners will announce grant recipients July 13.

Committee members will be selected based on expertise, experience, a commitment to green spaces and appreciation for library services.

Anyone interested should send a letter and resume by July 31 to Sharry, 43 Amity St., Amherst, 01002

Applicants will be interviewed by the Buildings and Facilities Committee in August before recommendations are made to trustees for appointment.
