Calling the Roll

Following is a list of local veterans whose obituaries appeared in the Gazette between  July 7 and 14. The information given here about their service is what was provided in each obituary.

Hugh C. Davis, 95, Leverett, d. June 21; at age 19, during World War II, Hugh enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aerial photographer and received a Distinguished Flying Cross for his service.

Francis W. Keller Jr., 86, Northampton, d. July 9; he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, obtaining the rank of sergeant.

Thomas W. “Tucker” Moran, 84, d. July 12; he was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy, having served on the aircraft carrier the USS Hornet during the Korean War.

Sol Berg, 92, Amherst, d. July 4; he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
