Looks forward to Hadley vote on new library

I am sure the townspeople of Hadley are very pleased by the state grant of $3.9 million toward the construction of a new library (“Hadley gets $3.9 million for library,” July 14).

The highly competitive grant recognizes and awards the quality of three years of diligent planning and community discussion. The combined effect of this award along with local donations means that Hadley has an opportunity to build the new library at less than half the total project’s cost to local residents. A new library means expanded services and opportunities for the entire community.

Soon, near the end of August or early September, we will meet to approve this project at a special town meeting. A two-thirds affirmative vote to accept the grant is needed. I hope to see you there.
