The idea of pop-up parklets in Amherst is well-intentioned. However, please consider:
1. Do you wish to be eating your salad with the grit, noise and exhaust fumes of adjacent traffic?
2. Does this plan not contribute to increased distraction for vehicles passing by with the potential for pedestrian/traffic accidents?
3. The costs of set-up and dismantling (by the town?) seem excessive when there are so many streets and sidewalks needing repair.
4. Is there already not controversy about the need for parking spaces in downtown Amherst?
Food for thought.
