WHATELY — Easements for a few ongoing town projects top a special Town Meeting ballot to be voted on this week.
The special Town Meeting will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the town office building.
The first three articles ask residents to allow the Select Board “to acquire by gift, purchase, or eminent domain” easements to allow additional parking room behind the Town Hall, and to build a pump house connecting the Whately Water District with the town’s water department. Berkshire Design Group was hired to design the connection.
Town Administrator Brian Domina noted the first easement request might be passed over “pending final cost estimates.”
Additional parking is part of a bigger Town Hall renovation project estimated to cost more than $1 million, paid for by a combination of state and local money.
A fourth article on the agenda asks to allow Franklin Regional Council of Governments to relocate (change) the county’s road layout for Egypt Road.
The final article changes the town’s bylaw and how it handles surplus property disposition — “bringing the amount into line with state law,” Domina said.
