GRANBY — A motorcyclist from Springfield was killed Tuesday afternoon following a collision with a pickup truck on Carver Street, Granby police reported.

Police said the motorcyclist, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was unconscious when emergency responders arrived on scene at 134 Carver St. at around 2:15 p.m. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. A female passenger on the motorcycle survived with an arm injury, police said.

The motorcyclist was traveling east on Carver when he lost control of the bike and skidded into the westbound lane, according to an email from Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the Northwestern district attorney’s office. The pickup truck driver was not injured.

Granby police, ambulance and fire personnel, as well as South Hadley District 1 Ambulance, responded to the accident.

The accident is being investigated by Granby and state police and the detectives unit of the Northwestern district attorney’s office.
