The Belchertown High School field hockey team’s first game as a varsity program was a tough one.

The Orioles traveled to South Hadley, where the Tigers cruised to a 12-0 victory.

Savannah Sudyka had five goals for South Hadley.

Bella Yee and Olivia Wilson added two goals each for the Tigers (1-0).

Julia Miele, Kayla Carlton and Corryn Maroney also scored for South Hadley.

Abigail Rothstein made 15 saves in net for the Orioles (0-1).

Frontier Regional 3, Turners Falls 2 — Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Red Hawks jumped on the Indians early in the second half and rallied for the road win.

Kathryn Mason scored 2 minutes, 10 seconds into the second half and again with 2:10 left, both on assists from Olivia Vecellio.

Lily Spencer tied the game with 1:38 remaining on an assist from Vecellio.

Skyla Burniske made two saves in the win.

Volleyball

Belchertown 3, Mahar 2 — Marissa Courchesne had 12 kills in the five-set road win for the Orioles.

Set scores were 24-26, 25-16 27-15, 24-26 and 15-11.

Cassidy Genereux led Belchertown (2-0) with 18 assists.

Easthampton 3, Greenfield 0 — The Eagles (1-1) swept the Green Wave on the road 25-15, 25-15 and 25-8.

Sophia Deblase had seven aces while Sierra Raskevitz added six aces and four digs

Lisa Sikop and Samantha Sypek chipped in with six aces and eight digs, respectively.
