The Easthampton boys soccer team exploded in the second half to win their Schmid League opener, 4-0 over Athol at home.
Nick Soucy broke a scoreless game when he netted a free kick from 25 yards out four minutes after halftime.
Mohamed Zabir worked a give-and-go with Chris Williams two minutes later for a 2-0 lead.
Williams then scored off an assist from Soucy at the 10-minute mark to give the Eagles (1-1, 1-0) a 3-0 lead.
At the 30-minute mark, Marcus Tenesaca scored his first varsity goal with an assist from Sam Colenback.
Drew Caires made six saves in the shutout.
Hopkins Academy 5, Mohawk 0 — Josiah Beck scored two goals for his first varsity points in a home win for the Golden Hawks.
Andy Czykowski and Chris Mushinski picked up assists for their first varsity points as well.
Hopkins jumped out to a 2-0 first-half lead behind goals from John Earle and Uan O’Brien.
Dougie Pierce also scored for Hopkins (1-1).
Jack Feltovic and Erik Berk split the shutout, making a combined two saves.
Frontier Regional 1, Monument Mountain 1 — Peter Bronke made five saves, and Ethan LaFleur scored on an assist from Timmy Barrington in the second half for the Red Hawks.
Belchertown 4, Agawam 2 — The Orioles have won two in a row to start the season after beating the Brownies at home.
Alexander Szarkowski led Belchertown (2-0, 1-0 Churchill) with two goals. Evan Fournier (penalty kick) and Jarod Bolton also scored.
Ben LaClair, Ben Laliberte and Nolan Vogel had assists
Sean McCarthy made four saves in net.
Smith Academy 6, Greenfield 0 — Hannah Rickert scored three goals in a road win for Smith Academy.
Olivia Niedbala added two while Maggie Hession scored one.
Gabby Tisdale made 12 saves in net.
Keene Jeffress picked up an assist for her first varsity point for the Falcons (2-0, 2-0 Pioneer South).
Rose McCollough, Madeline Niedbala and Haley Springman also had assists.
Gateway Regional 1, Hopkins Academy 1 — The Gators had 18 shots to three for the Golden Hawks, but the match in Huntington ended in a tie.
Katelyn Bean scored on an assist from Jessica Van Heynigen in the 29th minute.
Juliette Cook tied the game for Hopkins in the ninth minute of the second half.
Rebecca Herman made three saves for Gateway (1-0-1, 1-0-1 Pioneer South) while Miranda Pitta made 12 for the Golden Hawks (1-0-1, 1-0-1).
Smith Voke 3, McCann Tech 1 — The Vikings won at home behind a goal and an assist each from Marissa Mayhew and Megan Cone.
Ella Sherman scored as well, and Emily Bryant added an assist.
Westfield 2, Northampton 1 — The Blue Devils had a 1-0 lead on the road but let it slip away in the second half.
Emma Tanner scored her fourth goal of the season on an assist from Caroline Tanner for Northampton (1-1).
Sydney White made 13 saves in net for the Blue Devils.
Hampshire Regional 2, Holyoke 0 — The Raiders won their season opener on the road behind two goals by Emma Kuntz.
Sam Tersavich assisted on both goals for the Raiders.
Katie Taylor made six saves in the win for Hampshire (1-0).
West Springfield 3, Amherst Regional 0 — Reilly Lepak made 19 saves, but the Hurricanes (0-2) lost their second straight to open the season.
Belchertown 1, East Longmeadow 1 — Allyson Tatro scored for the Orioles in the first half, but the Spartans tied it in the second.
Emma LeBlanc assisted on the goal and Samantha Birks made five save for the Orioles (0-0-1).
Mahar 4, Frontier Regional 1 — Cambrie Hamilton scored the Red Hawks’ lone goal in a road loss.
Lexa Boyden made 10 saves in net for Frontier.
