NORTHAMPTON — A change of plea is expected Friday in the case of a school bus driver involved in an accident in which a Plainfield girl was killed in October 2016.

Tendzin Parsons of Hawley is due in Northampton District Court at 9 a.m., Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the Northwestern district attorney’s office said Thursday night.

Parsons was arraigned May 12 on a charge of negligent motor vehicle homicide in connection with the death of Summer Steele, 9, of Plainfield. He pleaded not guilty.

Parsons was released on condition that he not operate a motor vehicle, surrender his passport and not leave the commonwealth without the permission of the probation department.

Summer, a student at Sanderson Academy, died from injuries she suffered after becoming caught in the door of the school bus Parsons was driving the afternoon of Oct. 28. She was pronounced dead at Berkshire Medical Center shortly before 5 p.m. that day.

The incident was investigated by the Plainfield Police and various divisions of the Massachusetts State Police.
