Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern will be discussing a range of topics and answering questions from the public when he participates in a town hall forum in Northampton Tuesday.
McGovern and fellow U.S. Congressman Mark Pocan, D-Wisconsin, co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, will be at the sanctuary at First Churches, 129 Main St., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The free event, with seating on a first-come basis, is sponsored by the Massachusetts chapter of the Progressive Democrats of America.
After the two-hour event, a private fundraiser for PDA will be held at a Northampton home.
The next morning, McGovern will be the keynote speaker at the Council of Social Agencies of Hampshire Countyโs 30th annual breakfast at Hadley Farms Meeting House, 41 Russell St.
The event will honor Renee Moss, the interim director of United Way of Hampshire County and former executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County, with the Jan Wood Award.
Moss spent 32 years with Big Brothers Big Sisters before her retirement in June, and has long been an active member of COSA, including serving as the treasurer for the COSA board.
Moss was selected for the Jan Wood Award in recognition of her efforts to improve lives of Hampshire County youth, according to COSA coordinator Colleen Osten.
The award will be presented by Jan Klausner-Wise, an aide to former state Rep. Ellen Story, D-Amherst, a previous recipient of the award.
Tickets must be purchased or reserved in advance. The cost is $25 for COSA members and $30 for nonmembers and can be obtained by sending email to cosahc@gmail.com.
