EASTHAMPTON — As the November election approaches, now is the time to get out and get informed. Forums and debates are being held to help inform voters about the candidates running for contested races — for mayor, City Council and School Committee.

At 6 p.m. Thursday, the Chamber of Commerce will host a “Meet the Candidate” night at Eastworks, 116 Pleasant St., room 160. The first hour of the event will feature the eight City Council at-large candidates and the two City Council candidates running for the Precinct 2 seat, according to the chamber’s executive director, Moe Belliveau. The second hour of the event is to focus on the mayoral candidates, Joy Winnie and Nicole LaChapelle.

On Friday, School Committee candidates will get together at a forum hosted by Easthampton Media from 6-8 p.m. at Easthampton High School. Eight candidates, two of which are incumbents, are running for six open seats on the School Committee.

The public is invited to attend both events.
