Emma Tanner sat most of the first half with foul trouble.

Her teammates kept the Northampton girls basketball team in the game against Pittsfield on the road Thursday, then she returned with a flurry in the second half of a 52-35 win.

Tanner scored 11 points in the third quarter to finish with a team-high 15.

Amanda Mieczkowski added 12 points and six steals, while Claire Babbott-Bryan had 12 points and five steals.

Bailey Maurer chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds, while Sydney Lewandowski grabbed six rebounds.

Ware 61, Hopkins Academy 60 — An offensive rebound and a put back sank the Golden Hawks with 1.6 seconds left.

Hopkins (1-3) led by 10 with 2½ minutes left after a 3-pointer from freshman Sara Beauchamp, who finished with nine points, but missed free throws down the stretch .

Samantha Jenks scored 24 points through three quarters but injured her ankle at the start of the fourth.

“Sammy goes down, and we’re a different team,” Hopkins coach Jeff LaCure said.

Allison Kowal-Safron picked up some of the slack with 19 points. She hit four 3-pointers.

Hopkins trailed 35-30 at halftime but opened the third quarter on an 18-2 run.

Minnechaug 62, Belchertown 28 — Elise Pikul scored a career-ihgh 10 points, but the Orioles (1-2) couldn’t keep up on the road.

Boys basketball

Hoosac Valley 72, Frontier Regional 63 — The Red Hawks led by 14 in the first half, but turnovers cost them on the road.

Carsten Carey had a double-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks.

Kalen Evans contributed 16 points, and Ben Litskoski added 11 for Frontier (0-2).

Southwick 79, Smith Voke 35 — The Vikings got double-figure scoring from Luis Acosta and Tylor Top in a loss in the Falcons Classic at Smith Academy.

Both Top and Acosta had 10 points for Smith Voke (0-2).
