NORTHAMPTON — The lights have gone out for about 600 National Grid customers, as of 4 p.m. or so on Christmas Day.

The company had to de-energize the area around a low power line so that a parked car that was beneath the line could be moved, according to spokesperson Alison Ring. Ring said the company expects power to be restored by 7 p.m. At 5:45 p.m., the company’s outage map showed an estimated restoration time of 8:15.
