NORTHAMPTON — A Connecticut man was sentenced to prison Tuesday after admitting he stole electronics from his family’s summer home in Goshen in July 2016.
Thomas Wojcik, 29, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Hampshire Superior Court to charges of breaking and entering a building in the daytime and larceny over $250 from a person 60 or over.
Wojcik broke into his family’s summer home in Goshen and stole a 40-inch television and a Blu ray DVD player sometime between July 6 and July 8, 2016, according to Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Jayme Parent. He then pawned the items in Connecticut. A broken window and the missing items were found on July 8 by Wojcik’s father.

Defense attorney Alan Rubin described Wojcik as a young man who has struggled with drugs and was experiencing a relapse at the time of the July 2016 incidents. Both Parent and Rubin said Wojcik’s parents went back and forth on whether they wanted to pursue charges.
“They are very concerned for their son,” Rubin said.
Judge Richard Carey sentenced Wojcik to three years in state prison which will be served concurrently with a five-year sentence Wojcik earlier received in Connecticut.
