This is a true leftovers story. It all started with the weather report last Thursday night. As usual the forecasters were trying to whip everyone into a panic: A flash freeze was coming. We were going to be shrouded in ice. Walking would be impossible. Driving, forget about it. Stay home, stay in bed, whatever, just don’t go out.
I can see if you lived in Vermont where there were ice jams and serious flooding, but here, they weren’t really a problem. I woke up last Saturday to sunshine. The roads were dry as a bone, my sidewalks were clear and my car was free of snow and ice. I ventured out and found it quite pleasant. Not even an icicle hanging off the roof.
The thing about those weather reports is I bought in to them and went slogging through the rain last Friday night to buy a bunch of groceries. I bought ingredients to make turkey meatballs, chicken teriyaki and salads. I bought veggies, breakfast foods, chips, dip, and, of course, some wine to go with all this bounty. If I was going to be housebound I was going to have food and drink.
It was a messy night for shopping and I got soaked in the cold rain, but at least I had enough food to get me through the impending disaster.
But here is the good news: I prepared all the food and there was so much, I had leftovers for nearly a week.
So, I guess I should thank the weather people for getting me whipped up in to a weather/food panic. They made my cooking week much easier.

Way to go. You’re my hero.
Nothing like a bad weather forecast to make you run out to buy food.
I hear a lot of TV stations have bought stock in grocery stores. And vice versa.
Is this a great country or what?
Got to go now. I think I saw a cloud pass by. Have to stock up on groceries!!!
