NORTHAMPTON — Keep the salt and sand handy. The freezing rain that coated some pavements and steps in the Valley this morning might return.
There’s a possibility of freezing rain from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning which may affect driving conditions.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Franklin and western Hampshire counties from 3 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday.
“The ice will result in hazardous travel conditions, including during the evening commute today and morning commute on Tuesday,” the advisory says.
While the advisory is in western Hampshire county, weather service meteorologist Kim Buttrick said freezing rain is possible in the Northampton area.
Temperatures are expected to warm up on Tuesday to about 50 degrees, Buttrick said. Rain is expected on Tuesday throughout the day, according to the service.
