We are deeply concerned when we read about the recent plan by the Pentagon to expand the policy for U.S. use of nuclear weapons.
This new strategy has been sent to President Donald Trump for approval to permit the use of nuclear weapons to respond to a wide range of devastating but non-nuclear attacks on Americaโs infrastructure, including what current and former government officials described as the most crippling kind of cyberattacks.
Clearly, the proposal would increase the opportunity for the president to unleash nuclear weapons of mass destruction. As citizens, what can we do to save our planet?
We need a massive, ongoing, nonviolent, nationwide movement to understand the catastrophic potential of nuclear arms, and thus to advocate the elimination of U.S. stockpiles of nuclear arms, as well as to end the use of nuclear arms.
