The UMass hockey team will try to break its four-game losing streak against a team that has historically given the Minutemen trouble.
Boston University will visit the Mullins Center, Friday at 7 p.m.
UMass hasn’t beaten the Terriers since Feb. 1, 2013, and is 0-9-1 in 10 games since, including eight straight losses.
If Cale Makar returns to the Minuteman lineup, he’ll face his Team Canada juniors teammate Dante Fabbro, who is BU’s top scoring defensemen with eight goals and 12 assists.
UMass and BU will square off on back-to-back Fridays —this week in Amherst and next week at Agganis Arena in Boston.
The Minutemen will play at New Hampshire, Saturday, and at home against Merrimack, Tuesday.
Fans will get a look at Winter Olympics-bound Jordan Greenway.
Greenway is second on the BU roster with 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) behind junior Bobo Carpenter, who has 16 goals and 10 assists. His goal total is second in Hockey East.
Carpenter, the son of former Bruin Bobby Carpenter, is one of several members of BU’s offspring club.
Freshman forward Ty Amonte is the son of five-time NHL all-star Tony Amonte, while Brady Tkachuk’s father was NHL standout Keith Tkachuk.
BU (13-11-2, 9-7-2 Hockey East) is competing for a top-four spot and a first-round bye in the conference tournament that comes with it. It’s tied for fourth with Lowell with 20 points.
UMass (11-14-1, 5-10-1) is tied with New Hampshire (9-13-4, 4-9-3) with 11 points each.
