HADLEY — Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 25-year-old man after a significant amount of methamphetamine as well as a shoulder-fired rocket launcher and shotgun were found in a storage unit on Route 9.

Mark A. Kauffman is facing charges of trafficking 100-200 grams of methamphetamine, possession of a large-capacity feeding device and two counts of possession of a firearm without a license, Hadley Police Chief Michael Mason wrote on Facebook Wednesday.

Employees of the Stuff-It-Storage, 222 Russell St., were preparing to auction the contents of the unit and saw the weapons, Mason told the Gazette in an interview this week. Along with local police and firefighters, the State Police Bomb Squad and the regional hazardous materials team were called to the scene to investigate.

Also found in the unit were several plastic containers with a crystalline substance inside. Testing showed it to be methamphetamine in the amount of 184 grams, or 6½ ounces, with an approximate street value of $6,500.

Mason said Kauffman’s last known whereabouts are possibly Philadelphia.
