Winter Ferns and Rock
East Street, Southampton
Photograph and text by Robert Floyd, Southampton
The snow was deep and crunchy Tuesday. All animal tracks had dissolved into the melting snow. I headed back when this intimate landscape caught my attention. During the summer, I have witnessed much activity under the ferns including a wood frog when the fronds flourish in a near 10-square-foot area. No sign of life today. Soon there will be though with more subjects to capture with camera and lens. Transitions can be quicker and slower than we expect. At least there is always something out here to capture our seeing. That alone is a great comfort.
Created with a hand held DSLR and a short tele lens.
