BELCHERTOWN — The driver of a pickup truck was hospitalized Monday morning after their vehicle crashed into Subway on North Main Street.
Belchertown Police received multiple calls around 7:15 a.m. reporting the crash, according to police.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a 2016 Nissan pickup truck had crossed the parking lot and struck the front wall of the building. The store, as well as several neighboring stores in the shopping plaza, were closed at the time, police said.
The crash caused major structural damage to both the building and the truck.
Police said the driver, whose identity was not released, was taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
The crash remains under investigation. A building inspector was called to evaluate the building’s damage and to make a determination on its future use, police said.
