After 20 years in Hadley, I continue to be impressed with our Town Meeting, where any registered voter can participate in decision-making.
While the process can be messy, we need to do everything we can to continue this pure form of democracy. This is why I am running for town moderator.
I’m committed to ensuring an impartial, respectful atmosphere that encourages participation on all sides of an issue. I would work to improve the process by offering written forms for submitting amendments and using video projection to make the meeting easier to follow. I’d also appoint an independent timekeeper to assure that presentations and discussions run smoothly.
Many people in town have expressed the need to actively involve more residents. In order to make Town Meeting participation easier, I would hold orientation and information sessions for community members before each meeting so people could arrive with a greater understanding of the articles on the agenda and the meeting process.
I look forward to the opportunity to serving the town of Hadley. Please vote for me on April 10.
