Artist Ed Moret will exhibit a solo show on themes of climate change at The Elusie Gallery in Easthampton from April 14 through May 5. In 2017, Moret was named one of the Top 60 Masters of Contemporary Art by ArtTour International Magazine. He was also recognized and nominated for the Global Art Awards in Dubai, and he received an award for โMessenger of Peaceโ in Florence, Italy. Moretโs art has been shown at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, as well as in the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art in Las Vegas. Moret was also featured in the documentary film, โKintsugi – The Line of Destiny,โ about the effects of climate change. The Northampton Arts Council announces the opening of ArtsEZย 2018 Spring Grant Roundย from April 18ย through May 18. Individuals, schools and arts organizations are encouraged to apply for their creative projects taking place within Northampton, Florence and Leeds.ย The Arts Council will award up to $20,000 in grants in different categories including dance, film/video, literature, mixed media, music, theater and visual arts. (Funding for the grants comes from the proceeds from Arts Council events such as The Silver Chord Bowl, Transperformance, and First Night.) โIndividual artists and arts organizations will receive equal consideration for grants,โ according to press notes.ย โLast spring, the Council awarded $18,000 to 34 recipients with grants ranging from $250-$1,000.โ Projects must start no earlier than July 1, 2018, and must be completed by June 30, 2019. Artists Esther S White, Kevin Pomerleau, Claire Crews and Sally Clegg present the exhibit โFour Ways In,โ which runs throughย April 29 at the A.P.E. Gallery. The artistsโ reception takes place on Friday, April 13, from 5-8 p.m., as part of Northamptonโs Arts Night Out series. Artist Lorna Ritz presents 16 paintings at the Oresman Gallery in the Brown Fine Arts Center at Smith College. The exhibit, โSeeing Music: Color Finds Rhythms, Harmonies, and Counterpoints,โ is open from April 17 through May 17, with a reception taking placeย Wednesday, April 18, from 5:30-8 p.m. Ritz describes her collection of paintings as โthe movements of a symphony that take a year or more to fully realize.โ The event is free and open to the public.
