Audrey Gamble helped herself.
The Gateway Regional senior pitcher hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning of a 16-4 5-inning softball win over Pathfinder, Monday in Huntington. She also picked up the win after pitching all five innings.
Alli Manos went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Steph Paiva went 2-for-2 and made a running catch in center field in the fifth that she fired to first base for a double play.
South Hadley 9, Pioneer Regional 6 — After the Panthers tied the score in the top of the sixth, the Tigers answered with three in the bottom of the inning to earn the win at home.
Mikhaila Edge led South Hadley (1-1) with three hits, including a three-run home run in the fourth.
Smith Academy 15, Putnam 13 — Karlie Guimond (four runs, two RBIs) Emma Hobert (run, RBI) and Maggie Herlihy (two runs) each had two hits as the Falcons (2-0) held off the Beavers in Springfield.
Turners Falls 14, Amherst 0 (5) — Adele Cousland struck out four for the Hurricanes (0-1), who lost their season opener. Amherst didn’t have a hit.
McCann Tech 8, Hopkins Academy 7 — Sara Beauchamp went 2-for-5 while Olivia Brighenti went 3-for-4 and Allison Markowski registered a double for the Golden Hawks (1-1).
Hampshire Regional 13, Chicopee 2 — The Raiders were led by Hannah Wodecki, who went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, while Maggie Rubeck went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs. Emily Halket had six strikeouts and two walks in the team’s opening game.
Southwick 2, Granby 1 — Carter Matthews struck out six with just one walk, but the Rams couldn’t muster enough runs. Dylan Moriarty hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to score Granby’s run.
Eighth-grader Ryan Gaughan impressed with his defensive prowess at shortstop for the Rams (1-1, 0-1 Bi-County).
Hampshire Regional 12, Sabis 1 — John Carey and Gage Fortin went 2-for-3 in the Raiders’ opening game of the season. Jordan Washburn threw seven strikeouts.
Garrett Antosz and Matt Hurd also went 2-for-4.
Prior to the game, Hampshire dedicated a new scoreboard at Earl Tonet Field.
Westfield 15, Northampton 11 — Abby Baldwin scored nine goals, and Alli Zadworny registered a hat trick for the Blue Devils. Ella Moreau had six saves.
Boys lacrosse
Belchertown 10, McCann Tech 1 — Adam Wordsworth compiled two goals and three assists in a home win.
Jack Filipelli had a hat trick for the Orioles (3-1, 3-0 Suburban). They built a 9-0 lead before McCann Tech got on the board.
Ben Laliberte scored twice, while Nick Makkiya added two assists.
Owen Palmateer, Grant Irving and Jaxon Royal scored, while Tony Martel, Shea Cunningham and Matt Pacheco had assists.
Nick Fellion stopped five shots.
Granby 12, St. Mary’s 4 — Luc Chauvin had four goals and four assists to lead the Rams, who led 7-0 at halftime and rolled at home.
Ryan Walz added three goals, while Mitch Labbee (goal, two assists), Nate Drapeau (goal, assist), Kayden Laramee (goal, assist) and Tanner Imelio (goal assist) were also in the multiple point club for Granby (2-1, 2-0 Suburban).
South Hadley 10, Pope Francis 4 — The Tigers were led by hat tricks from Marcus Larrier and Liam Dawson in their third consecutive win. Dawson also added an assist. Jacob Allard registered two assists and a goal while Jaycee Rondeau had nine saves for South Hadley (4-1, 2-0 Valley Wheel).

Northfield Mount Hermon 13, Northampton 4 — Jason Cooper, Jasper Price-Slade, Kaleb Zuckerman and Ben DeLaCour each scored goals in the loss for the Blue Devils at home.
Belchertown 3, Chicopee 2 — Nathan Wright had 13 kills in a 25-10, 25-23, 25-27, 20-25, 15-7 win.
Nathan Bresnahan added 11 kills and two aces. Connor LaFlamme had 37 assists, and Kyle Zielinski chipped in eight kills. Chris Lapointe led the Orioles with four aces and had five kills.
