Excessive politeness by drivers in the small traffic circle, or roundabout, near Look Park in Northampton is dangerous.
Traffic moves in a single lane counter-clockwise. Drivers already in this circle have the right-of-way and continue to move at 15 mph until they exit at Route 9, Bridge Road or Look Park. Drivers outside of the circle absolutely must yield to drivers already in the circle. Most drivers understand this concept, so traffic flows smoothly.
However, drivers in the circle must never hesitate or stop to allow the incoming vehicles to enter. This hazardous behavior causes accidents and confuses the incoming traffic.
Follow the rules. On the road is no time for being the exception to the rule.
