Alien Ice

Ice is both fun and difficult to photograph. I never know what I’m going to achieve. The ice in mid March in this small patch along the Fort River Trail off of Moody Bridge Road in Hadley was no exception. Because I liked the shape of the ice crystals I set up my tripod mounted DSLR camera, adjusted the medium length telephoto lens and created the image. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the end result was some kind of alien structure or an alien landscape. It was not what I had expected at all, but I’m sure others will see it for what it was … interesting ice crystals.
