A Starbucks manager overreacted and called police because two black men were sitting at a table, had ordered nothing, and were waiting for another man to join them.
The video is a time warp, as if watching this in the ‘60s. Racism runs deep in our DNA.
But one classic CEO stepped up to the reality of what happened. He did not deny nor avoid the actions. He said it was wrong, not appropriate, and not in line with the mission and values of Starbucks.
Starbucks has had its issues. I am not interested in defending it.
However, the CEO demonstrated the leadership we seek in our leaders. Whether POTUS, or a school superintendent, or a chief of police, leadership calls for such honesty, integrity and accountability revealed in the comments of the CEO of Starbucks.
