On May 22, the voters of Easthampton have an opportunity to invest in the future of the city by building a new school.
I have been a resident of Easthampton for 40 years. I am retired, on a fixed, low income and have no children. I am a homeowner and my taxes will go up. Frankly, I cannot afford to pay more, but somehow I will find a way because the future of our city is important to me.
The opportunity to build a school with 50 percent reimbursement from the state may not come back for several years, if at all. Prices will be higher if we wait.
This is the right time for this project. On May 22, I will vote “yes” for our children and “yes” for our city.
