NORTHAMPTON – An Amherst man denied charges Friday that he cut off a GPS ankle bracelet less than a week after it was put on.
Gregory Collison, 27, pleaded not guilty in Hampshire Superior Court to charges of malicious injury to property, larceny over $250 and failure to appear in court after release on bail or personal recognizance on a felony charge. Collison is being charged as a habitual offender, according to court documents.
Collison allegedly cut off his GPS ankle bracelet on Dec. 20, 2017, and threw it away near Thornes Marketplace in downtown Northampton, according to court documents. The bracelet was put on five days earlier after he posted bail.
Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Anne Yereniuk also filed a motion to revoke Collison’s bail on another case because of the new charges.
Judge John Agostini ordered Collison be held on $10,000 bail. He is being represented by attorney John Drake.
