John Carey threw a four-hitter, and the Hampshire Regional baseball team qualified for the postseason with a 5-0 win over Southwick, Thursday.

Carey walked three and struck out one while also driving in a run.

Nick Pellegrini hit a two-run single. Garrett Antosz singled and doubled with an RBI.

Gage Fortin had an RBI triple, and Greg Sarna-McCarthy doubled.

Easthampton 12, Smith Academy 9 — Nine runs in the seventh inning weren’t enough for the Falcons, as the Eagles held off a furious rally.

Zack Kugler drove in four runs for Easthampton (8-6, 5-1 Hampshire East) and had three hits.

Justin Colpack (double) and Nick Soucy had two RBIs each.

Matthew Arroyo singled three times. Dawson Wolcott picked up the win after throwing four shutout innings with seven strikeouts.

Matt Bouley had four hits and three RBIs for the Falcons (7-7, 3-4).

Liam Pitrat and Hunter Zygmont hit two-run singles. Carter Woodward scored three runs.

Frontier Regional 9, Turners Falls 2 — Gabe Gochinski picked up a win in his varsity debut. He threw seven innings, allowing five hits and five walks with two strikeouts.

Ben Arnold scored three runs, hit an RBI double, walked twice and stole two bases.

Bryce Jordan drove in two runs and stole two bases.

Al Jordan went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Frontier (14-1, 7-1 Hampshire West).

Hopkins Academy 15, Belchertown 1 — Mike Curran went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and scored two runs in a road win.

Jon Morrison pitched six innings, striking out 13. He allowed two hits and three walks. He also drove in three runs on three hits and scored twice.

Jack Feltovic scored three runs and had an RBI while finishing the game on the mound.

Braeden Tudryn had a pinch-hit two-run double and walked for the Golden Hawks (10-2, 6-0 Hampshire West).

Christopher Tilton (run), Zachary Jenks and Jacob Torna singled for the Orioles (7-6, 2-4).

Greenfield 7, South Hadley 6 — Evan Levrault (three hits) and Wil Ortyl (two hits) each had two RBIs in a road loss for the Tigers.

Nick Cirone hit an RBI double. Drew Foley and David Adams singled for South Hadley.

Softball

Smith Academy 26, Sci-Tech 1 (5) — Erin Gilrein had five RBIs on three hits and scored three runs, while Bailey McCoy threw a no-hitter, walking six with eight strikeouts.

Mary Whalen tallied two hits, two RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases.

Karlie Guimond singled three times and scored five runs with an RBI.

The Falcons (13-1) scored 21 runs in the fourth inning.

Easthampton 10, West Springfield 9 — Rachael Robinson had three hits and four RBIs in a home win.

Michelle McDermott drove in three runs on three hits.

Samantha Sypek, Olivia Downer and Kristalynn Culver each hit RBI singles for the Eagles (13-3).

Belchertown 14, Putnam 1 (5) — Danae Weldon drove in four runs for the Orioles (7-9).

Delaney O’Brien hit a bases-clearing triple and walked twice. Kelly Braese had two RBIs.

Smith Vocational 5, Gateway 2 — Iara Oliveira-Torres hit an RBI single for the Vikings.

Emily Start scored two runs, while Serenity Roznovski, Cassidy Colloruso and Ciara Cino each singled and scored a run.

Ashley Schabaker picked up the win, allowing four hits with six strikeouts and four walks.

Audrey Gamble struck out 10 for the Gators (11-5, 10-1) in a loss.

Stephanie Paiva had a hit and scored a run, while Grace Van Buren touched home.

Southwick 24, Granby 0 (5) — Megan Lempke singled in the fifth for the only hit for the Rams (0-13).
