GRANBY — Police are warning residents to lock their car doors overnight as several vehicle break-ins were reported earlier this week in Granby.

On Monday night, about a dozen vehicles left unlocked on Amherst Street and West Street were broken into, according to Granby Police Lieutenant Kevin O’Grady. The alleged thief stole three to four dollars in loose change from some vehicles, while choosing not to take valuables like a GPS and Bluetooth wireless speaker left in others.

“Lock your doors, your house and your car,” O’Grady said. “People don’t break into vehicles like that anymore. It’s not as easy to use a slim jim to open a car anymore.”

One resident filed an incident report, while police received calls from several other residents warning the police of the suspicious activity.
