Dance for Cancer Connection

A dance hosted by DJ Bobby from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Bluebonnet Diner in Northampton will be held Thursday to raise money for Cancer Connection, an organization in Florence that supports people living with cancer and their families.

Music selections will range from the 50s to the 90s. Dance instructor Emily Fox, of Emily Foxtrot in Northampton, will be on hand. Prizes will be awarded for the best dancer and the best outfit.

Tickets, which are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, include coffee, and dessert. There also will be a cash bar and raffle. Dinner is availableย from the diner.

New stroke support group forming

Beginningย June 26, a new stroke support group will be offered atย Cooleyย Dickinsonย Hospital in Northampton.

It will meet on the fourth Thursday of each monthย in the Childbirth Center conference room at the hospital, 30 Locust St.

The goal of the group is to provide a friendly atmosphere that encourages new goals and independence, according to a press release. All stroke survivors, family members and caregivers are welcome.

Presentations offered on end-of-life care at Fisher Home

The Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst is hosting twoย presentations on issues related to the end of life.

One will be held June 26 at 4 p.m. at the Lord Jeffery Inn in Amherst. The second will be July 12 at 4 p.m. at Union Station in Northampton. All programs are free and light refreshments will be available.

Members of the hospiceโ€™s clinical staff will provide information and answer questions about hospice care and the Fisher Homeโ€™s programs, which are available both in peopleโ€™s homes and in the North Amherst hospice residence.
