NORTHAMPTON – The Massachusetts State Police announced that a man with Northampton ties has been added to the state’s most wanted list.

Stephen C. Cote, 47, is wanted by the state police and Northampton Police Department. He is facing a charge of receiving material involving the sexual exploitation of minors in U.S. District Court , according to the state police.

He is alleged to have been in possession of child pornography and a warrant for his arrest was issued in November 2015. He has been at large since that time and police said he is actively avoiding apprehension.

Cote is described as a white man with blue eyes and brown, or possibly shaved hair. He is 5-feet 8-inches tall and weighs 190 pounds, according to police. He has multiple tattoos, including a flower with the name Chrissy on his right forearm and multiple tattoos on his back, including a heart, cross and angel wings. He also has used the name, Steven Cote and Stephen Craig Cote.

Police said Cote has been convicted of assault and battery and also has ties to Springfield, Southbridge, Westfield, New Bedford and Fall River.
