I couldn’t agree more with the writer who was upset that city officials never once said anything about the water/sewer rates going way up until after the school bill was voted on and passed (“Accuses Easthampton officials of secrecy over fees,” June 23).
We are a retired family with no children now living on a fixed income. Easthampton property taxes are out of sight already and we don’t even get trash pickup. Now the water rates are going way up. We’re not allowed to put in a well or purchase an outside use water meter.
Unless you’re taking home six figures, Easthampton makes it very difficult to keep a nice lawn and garden.
