There are many candidates running for Stan Rosenberg’s seat in the state Senate.
I respect and admire all of the candidates running for his position. They all hold progressive values and support many of the same things —strong public education, single-payer health care, environmental initiatives and increased transportation options.
However, once Jo Comerford entered the race, it was immediately clear to me that she was the best candidate to succeed Rosenberg not only because of her values, but also because of her vast experience and proven ability to build bridges among people to accomplish more for the greater good. As a trained social worker, Comerford has the skills to negotiate, listen and advocate for our needs so that she can accomplish things as pat of a team with others.
She has deep understanding of budgets, and how government works, from her leadership at the National Priorities Project and MoveOn.org. She has worked at the state and federal levels, beyond the scope of Northampton.
For me, her support for public education is essential. She is the daughter of teachers, is married to a teacher, and sends her children to public school. She is truly the only candidate with the width and depth of experience to make her ready to move in to Stan Rosenberg’s seat on day one.
She will represent us knowledgeably and advocate for us fiercely. I say with force, go Jo.
