AMHERST — UMass senior Andrew Ford was one of 30 quarterbacks selected to the Manning Award watch list by the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Thursday.
The Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, native threw for 2,924 yards and 22 touchdowns in 11 games last season. He enters his final year ranked among the top-five in program history for completion percentage, total completions, passer efficiency rating, passing yards per game and touchdown passes.
The 10 finalists for the Manning Award will be announced on Nov. 29 and the winner will be unveiled in the week after the national championship game.
COACHING TREE GROWS: Former UMass standout Tamara Tatham was added to the coaching staff of the Raptors 905, the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, the team announced Wednesday.
Tatham’s official title will be mentor coach under 905 head coach Jama Mahlalela. She becomes the first Canadian woman to serve in a coaching role in a men’s professional league.
Prior to joining the 905, she was an assistant at the University of Toronto under Michèle Bélanger for one season.
During her UMass career, which spanned 2003-07, Tatham averaged 10.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game and did not miss a single game for the Minutewomen. She finished her career third all-time in program history with 112 starts, including beginning her career with 69 in a row.
Tatham, an Ontario native, represented Canada at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games in London and Rio de Janeiro, respectively.
