GRANBY — Officials confirmed Sunday that a young child who was pulled from a pool Saturday night has died.
The child, who was 2 ½ years old, was unresponsive by the time emergency responders arrived, and was rushed to Holyoke Medical Center in Holyoke for treatment, according to a statement posted on Twitter by the Massachusetts State Police. The child died at some point later in the night.
The incident, which happened around 8:30 p.m., remains under investigation by officers assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. No foul play is suspected, according to Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the DA’s office.
Officials have not released the name or any other information about the child, or indicated where the incident happened. At Granby’s police station Sunday evening, officers directed inquiries to the district attorney’s office. Around 7 p.m., Carey said there was no more information available.
