State police identified the motorcycle crash victim who died Saturday as Jay Rines, 53, of Leverett.
Police responded to a report of the crash at 5:40 p.m. on Saturday on the ramp from Route 90 Eastbound to Exit 4 in West Springfield.
Rines lost control of his motorcycle — a 2017 Yamaha XVS950 — for reasons that are still under investigation, according to police. He then veered off the left side of the roadway and struck a sign pole, police said.
