I was shopping in the Amherst Big Y on Saturday August 2 and was ready to check out with my groceries in the cart. I attempted to use my debit card, and it did no go through. The manager came along and tried it in another machine, and it still did not work.
I knew there was money in my account since my federal retiree payment is made then. So, I was angry, frustrated and humiliated.
Out of nowhere, a woman said, โI would like to pay for your groceries.โ
At first, I could not comprehend what she was saying. I protested, but she insisted. I cannot even express the good feeling that this act inspired.
So, to this woman who made this random act of kindness, I can only give you my profound thanks.
