NORTHAMPTON — A Huntington man has been arraigned on charges of forcible rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
Edward Bruneau, 72, pleaded not guilty to the two charges on Monday and was released on $1,000 bail. Attorney Alan Rubin, who is representing Bruneau, on Tuesday declined to comment on the case.
A grand jury handed up indictments in the case on Aug. 23. Those indictments allege that Bruneau assaulted and beat a child under 14, had “sexual intercourse or unnatural sexual intercourse” with the child and “compelled such child to submit by force against her will, or by threat of bodily injury.”
As part of his conditions of release, Bruneau is barred from having unsupervised contact with any child under 18, and is to stay away from any victims or witnesses.
