Amherst Regional senior Sophia Jacobs-Townsley won her third Amherst Invitational cross country race Saturday, becoming the first three-time champion in the event’s 23-year history.

She crossed the line in 18 minutes, 10.55 seconds, leading the Hurricanes to their eighth team title. Amherst finished with 43 points, besting second-place Shepherd Hill by 23 points.

Erin Clotfelter took fifth (19:27.39), Isabella Shepard was eighth (19:48.29) , Julia Hopley finished ninth (19:48.76) and Maddie Shea was 20th (20:26.4).

Northampton was fifth in the team standings with 151 points.

Rosie Ingmann led the way in 15th (19:58.8).

Hampshire Regional took 14th with 385 points, as Setota Touchette was 48th (21:53.49).

On the boys side, Amherst’s Jack Yanko took eighth in 16:13.36. Eli Nahom of New Milford took first in 15:39.24.

The Hurricanes were seventh with 210 points, while Northampton was sixth at 193.

Benjamin Gordon Sniffen was the first Blue Devil across the line in ninth (16:17.69).

Chris Vayda led Hampshire to a 15th place finish by placing 11th individually (16:24.91).

Concord-Carlisle won the boys championship with 43 points and received the Crowley Cup for having the lowest combined boys and girls score.

Boys soccer

Easthampton 3, Southwick 1 — Mohamed Zabir and Frenando Tenesaca scored in the first half, while Nic Soucy added an insurance goal in the second, as the Eagles erased a 1-0 deficit Saturday.

Tyler Karakula and Dylan Schmitt added assists, while Drew Caires made seven saves for Easthampton (6-0, 5-0 Schmid).

Smith Academy 1, Hopkins Academy 0 — Wyatt Jeffress found a late winner for the Falcons.

Hopkins Academy (2-4) only allowed that shot on goal.

Ryan Belina made seven saves for the Falcons (2-4).

Girls soccer

Hampshire Regional 2, Southwick 0 — Katelyn Dunn and Sophie Aldrich both scored and assisted each other in a win Saturday.

Katie Taylor made five saves for Hampshire (4-1-1, 3-1-1 Central).

South Hadley 8, Renaissance 2 — Lindsay Marjanski found the net twice, as the Tigers cruised Saturday.

Grace Ryan and Reese Carey had a goal and an assist each.

Carla Jarrett, Alexa Blaney, Bailey Gawron and Anna Moriarty scored.

Olivia Blaney, Molly Schlosstein and Haley Werenski added assists.

Bridget Sears made three saves for South Hadley (6-0, 4-0 Grieve).

Frontier Regional 4, Hopkins Academy 1 — The Red Hawks scored four second-half goals Saturday in a comeback victory.

Cambrie Hamilton scored in the 47th minute, Natalie Denkiewicz in the 62nd, Maddie Crocker in the 64th and Jenna Martin in the 79th for Frontier (2-3, 2-2 Pioneer North).

Kasey Eale initially put Hopkins Academy (0-5, 0-4) ahead in the 17th minute from Sammy Jenks.

Field hockey

Auburn 4, Northampton 0 — Ella Moreu and Sarah Grimaldi made four saves each, as the Blue Devils (1-3-2) fell on the road Saturday.

Girls volleyball

Pioneer Christian 3, Smith Vocational 1 — Haleigh Pensivy had nine kills, four blocks, three aces, two assists and two digs, but the Vikings fell 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16 on Saturday.

Marissa Rodrigues added seven digs, four kills and three assists, while Amber Pensivy had five assists and four digs for Smith Vocational (1-6, 1-3 Metro).
