NORTHAMPTON – The theft of a ukulele valued at $2,500 from a vehicle parked on Masonic Street late Saturday night remains under investigation, according to police.

A woman called police at 10:44 p.m. to report returning to her vehicle, in the Masonic Street parking lot, and discovering the trunk open and the musical instrument missing, said Detective Ryan Tellier.

The trunk may have been left unsecured, as the woman informed police it has not been closing properly, Tellier said.

Music stores in the area will be notified in case someone attempts to turn in the ukulele, Tellier said.

Also Saturday night, a tablet and music player in a case fell off a motorcycle traveling on Damon Road. Those items had not been turned in to the department as of Sunday afternoon, leading the motorcyclist to call police and inform them she believes they have been stolen.
