Don’t decorate with bittersweet

We strongly disagree with the article, “Decorating with bittersweet” that was in last Friday’s newspaper (Sept. 21). Bittersweet has become an invasive species, taking over our forests and competing with native plants. The seeds are eaten by birds and spread in their waste. Humans use the vines to decorate their homes, then throw them in the woods, where they germinate. Please print articles on the dangers of invasive plants instead of how to beautify your home with them.
