The National Weather Service issued a flood watch in parts of New England – including parts of western Massachusetts – effective through Friday afternoon. Nearby areas included in the watch are parts of Hampden and Worcester counties and Hartford, Connecticut. The watch is not in effect in Hampshire or Franklin county.

Rainfall totals in western Massachusetts are under half an inch, and not much more rain is expected to fall, according to Kim Buttrick, NWS meteorologist. It’s likely that the Hampden watch will be dropped before 4 p.m., according to Buttrick.
