AMHERST — The executive director for the Belchertown Housing Authority is one of two finalists being considered to become the next leader for the Amherst Housing Authority.

A search committee this week tapped Pamela Rogers, who has been in charge in Belchertown, and Carlos Lopez, executive director of the Westerly, Rhode Island Housing Authority, to be publicly interviewed.

Lopez and Rogers are candidates to replace Debra “Debbie” Turgeon, who resigned in May from the position she held since January 2017.

Interviews are scheduled for Wednesday at the community room on the fifth floor at Ann Whalen Apartments, the first at noon and the second at 4 p.m.

Since Turgeon departed, Pam Parmakian, director of housing programs, has been the interim executive director of the Amherst Housing Authority, which has nearly 200 units of low-income public housing.
