Access to health care is an issue that concerns most voters, who want to make sure that we won’t have to choose between food and prescriptions, lose insurance because of a preexisting condition or forgo necessary medical care, because of high co-pays.
Western Massachusetts Medicare for All is leading the charge to establish affordable, accessible and quality universal health care to all residents of the Commonwealth. There is strong support for single payer health care among the newly elected western Massachusetts legislators, but it will only happen if we continue to build a strong movement to advocate for health care for all.
The Easthampton Hub of Western Mass. Medicare for All invites everyone to a very special screening of the film “Fix-It,” followed by a Q&A and discussion with UMass professor Gerald Friedman. Dr. Friedman is an expert in the economics of health care, has been an advocate of single payer health care for more than 40 years, and has drafted financing plans for single payer health care systems for Maryland, Massachusetts and the United States. “Fix-It” is an engaging and understandable 40-minute film, which presents workable solutions to fix our broken health care system.
This event will also provide everyone with information about the non-binding ballot resolution appearing on the November ballot, which will give voters the opportunity to weigh in on whether they support a Medicare for All bill in Massachusetts. If all of this hasn’t persuaded you to attend this important event, we will also be providing free popcorn and cider for everyone who attends!
We are excited about the opportunity to have Massachusetts take the lead as the first state to pass Medicare for All. Join us for this free event on Oct. 13th, from 3-5 p.m., at the Easthampton Senior Center, 19 Union St., in Easthampton, to learn about the movement for quality, accessible, and affordable health care in Massachusetts.
